Day 46: May 6 - Member Arrested for Diary Entry

Hideki Takanishi has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a handgun. Police stated that in the March 19th entry in his diary, Takanishi had written that he wanted to "shoot the gun toward the sea." Police searched two apartments registered in Takanishi's name, but have yet to find a gun. Takanishi is still being held.

Police released Kozo Fujinaga today, but immediately re-arrested him on charges of improper storage of detonators. He was originally taken into custody two weeks ago for possessing a "30cm sharp object." [ Although this object was not a knife, the media has been maddeningly vague on exactly what it was. Reports have described everything from a pointy stick to a cooking fork. -- TR]
